Caesar declared himself dictator for life. On February 15, 44 BCE at the feast of Lupercalia, Caesar was preparing for March 18 to lead a military campaign against the Parthians. Caesar was warned of some personal danger; however,he refused a bodyguard
Caesar's quest for power turned many in the Senate against him. Caesar used his power to make many changes in Rome, often without approval from the Senate. Senate members concluded to resolve the problem of his power was to assassinate Caesar.
Prior to his departure, On March 15, 44 BCE Caesar attended the Senate's last meeting in the portico of the theater built by Pompey the Great. The regular meeting house of the Senate had been badly burned and was being rebuilt. Marcus Junius Brutus and other conspirators came to the meeting with daggers concealed in their togas. Caesar was stabbed multiple times as he stood at the base of Pompey's statue. There is a Legend that Caesar said in Greek to Brutus, “You, too, my child?” Upon Ceasar's death all the senators fled. There were three slaves who carried his body home to Calpurnia hours later. For several days there was political pandamonium. It seems the conspirators decided to leave Antony alive and in control of the military, the keys to Caesar's money boxes, and Caesar's will.
Caesar was a master of politics. His outstanding character was of genius, method, memory, culture, thoroughness and intellect.
In summation, many historians agree Caesar was more than just a Roman dictator. He was called a benevolent ruler, but also a cruel despot. . . . He was on the whole a moderate statesman.
Caesar was equally great in understanding general political trends and in directing them. A tragedy lies over the life of the greatest genius produced by Rome—to be snuffed out by Romans. His genius raised him in every respect above all his contemporaries—through his spiritual and physical vigour. Thus, although he was a Roman through and through and intended only to use his rule in order to raise the imperium populi Romani to the level of perfection his genius lifted him to a lonely eminence where others were unable to follow him.
Caesar’s assassination set in motion a protracted civil war, the demise of a five-hundred-year Republic, and the emergence of an absolutist rule that would prevail over Western Europe for centuries to come.

I especially enjoy drawing and characterizing special emotion featured in an individual's face and eyes to reflect the mood of the moment as I see it presented.
I capture and characterize a great deal more than is openly evident in appearance for every individual, pet, animal or any type of object; and, I represent that individualism in each sketch.
I like to draw being certain there are pleasing contrasts in charcoal tone and shading to bring out detail characteristic depths.
Each charcoal drawing is a "one-of-a-kind", original sketch for your unique display; or providing an exceptional gift for that very special person.
I draw with charcoal to achieve a very specific and desired effect that renders detail characteristics and style of a subject's facial features with a softer finish and illustrative expression.
